DREAM-BUILD-PLAY WINNERS HAVE JOINED FORCES FOR THIS HOLIDAY TREAT!
Hey everyone! Honestly, It’s our honor to announce this special costume pack! We couldn’t be happier with love and support from our indie friends.
“Dream-Build-Play" is one of the contests for indie that we feel attached to. We won the second place in 2010 and get to know many developers from that point forward. These winner games are very well-made and it’s our honor to see their costumes in our So Many Me. Believe us, there will be a lot of fun just trying to collect every costumes in this pack and seeing Filo and his ME transform themselves into the lead character of these Dream-Build-Play games (but in a blob-like shape :)
Even better, This costume pack is FREE for everybody! They will all scattered around Xio. And again you will need to solve puzzle(s) to get each of them!
The Holiday is coming! Take care and PLEASE don’t forget to help us spread out the word — x10
We know everything seems to be slow. We have to admit that things move slower than we had thought, but
We will work harder to let everyone hear our little Filo voice! We are doing our best to spread out the word. A past week may be a bad week for us but we have 2 years of our effort behind our back. Don’t believe me ? Take a look for yourself :)
Let’s celebrate our KICKSTARTER launch with something we can enjoy together. If you haven’t played the game before, now it’s time to have a little goosebumps. What are you waiting for ? Go ahead and ga rab it here!
Ever wondered how to make those monster sound? Well, even if you don’t have any professional recording room it can sounds decent with some out-of-the-world effects applied. (But having a proper room will definitely helps.)
First thing you will be looked like an idiot making multiple weird cries to the computer. (Even I’m all alone I felt a bit embarrassed, lol) Looking at the picture of that monster you’re casting will help you ‘become one’ with him/her.
After more than 10 takes for only one sound (and probably annoy your friends/cohabitants to death) you can start fiddling with audio effects to your taste. Start with adjusting pitch (Don’t be afraid of going to the extreme!) then move on to other audio effects. Pick the best take and enjoy.
The attached sound shows 3 takes of unprocessed sounds (Yes, my voice but I did not normally talk to people like this.) followed by effects-applied sounds. The last sound is the one that got in to the game!
It has been a long time since 2 and a half years ago that we’ve started So Many Me project. During all those precious time, the game was improved in terms of new systems several times ranging from design, visual, code architecture and algorithm. One of the hardest job ever and we changed it all the time is level design.
Last week, we are able to nail down level design part for story mode completely at 35 levels. Designing a level, we adhere to the idea that players won’t see any similar puzzles in close proximity of time during gameplay session. If there’s still a similar puzzle that player saw it already, then it must be an improved version, a more adaptive and complicated one.
So designing in the latter levels will take much long time to complete compared to the early levels that took less time. In addition to several circumstances that we need to go back and improve the early levels as always. The reason is to connect the dot of puzzles in order to introduce them to the harder ones in the latter levels seamlessly.
See the photo above, that’s our ancient design sheet with around 3 years in age!
It has been more than 2 years already since we started the project. It’s such a great fun seeing our game changed from time to time. Today, I would like to speak about one of the most powerful weapons that has been changed recently. Sorry to not give it a name yet, for now just call it a Turret!
It’s quite normal to see more than one turret in each level of So Many Me. Some of them might be a part of puzzle, while some might be obstacles or even decorations. One thing they have in common is that they are very strong, and you will never be able to destroy them.
This is the turret that we had used in the first year of So Many Me. It’s not movable and does only a single energy shot!
The time has passed and we decided to change its appearance. The second version is more colorful and fires more noticeable physical bullet.
Not long after that, we have to change it again due to necessity of some puzzle mechanic. But this time we don’t change its appearance, we just twice its size and have it does a multiple shots.
That’s all for today. Sometimes, I just wanna blog about a small thing that we can easily forget :)
